NintendoOnyx Nintendo DS™ Lite
The Nintendo DS Lite is a high-powered handheld video game system in a sleek folding design loaded with features for a unique gaming experience. The color screens are now even brighter and the lower touch screen provides a totally new way of playing and controlling games. Use the built-in wireless mode to share games, chat or even play multiplayer games on-line via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Play impressive 3-D rendered Nintendo DS games and play all your favorite Game Boy® Advance games in single player mode. Nintendo DS Lite comes with a variety of distinctive changes that set it apart from the original: Its less than two-thirds the size of the original Nintendo DS and more than 20 percent lighter. Its two bright screens can be adjusted to four levels to adapt to different lighting conditions and to extend battery power.
The microphone sits in the center of the unit, and the LED lights are clearly visible whether the unit is open or closed.
The stylus is 1 centimeter longer and 1 millimeter thicker than the stylus of the original, and slides into a side storage slot.
The Start and Select buttons were repositioned for easier access.
A removable cover keeps the Game Boy® Advance cartridge slot clear from dust and debris when its not in use.

"Nintendo DS Lite is one of the best portable gaming systems in the market. It features dual screens, one of which is touch sensitive. It accepts both DS and GameBoy Advance game cartridges. The rechargeable battery lasts more than 10 hours on a full charge.
The graphics engine may not be as advanced as, say, Sony Playstation Portable. However, DS Lite rocks in terms of game selections, and the innovative touch screen makes a gameplay much more interesting, beyond just the button smashing. It has a microphone too for those games that support it."

"I bought the DS for my 9 yr old grandson. He LOVES it, and so do I! (I bought the "French Coach" for myself to brush up on my foreign language skills.)
There are lots of games that grownups will enjoy. And its portability makes it great for passing time in waiting rooms."

"Good product. It was for my daughter. She loved it, and plays with it all the time. The games for it are about the same price as Playstation 2 games. I had to order the DS from sears online. The only problem with that was I coudn't use a $10.00 discount coupon that I had for Sears. Had the store had it in stock I could of saved that $10.00. THe DS did come by UPS delivery in a good time, so it wasn't bad. Bottom line, my daughter enjoys playing with it a lot. So it was worth it."

"One of our GBASP's gave up the ghost and we needed to replace it and so looked at a replacement, the DS, and the PSP. If you own any Gameboy Advaces (GBA's), this alone makes the DS a no brainer as it will play all the old GBA games (there's a slot for them on the bottom). The DS games are much smaller (1 inch square wafers) with the contacts exposed which will make for easy cleaning. The two screens make for better gameplay. Extra info can be displayed and used eliminating the necessity of pausing and going to another screen like on the GBA. The system takes conventional headphones unlike the GBA which uses a proprietary connector. Some games (getting more plentinful everday) allow multiplayer with only one game cartridge. Just the wireless mulitplayer alone is great. You can even use the wifi built into it to play people around the world. This system rocks and is much cheaper than a PSP. If you have GBA's and one goes bad, don't even think about another GBA, get a DS."

"Great system, great games. There's something for everyone, and lots of exciting titles on their way.
Online play is an exciting addition, although in the games I've tried (Metroid Prime Hunters and Mario Kart DS), gathering opponents for a match takes a while, so keep the TV on or a magazine handy. But this is a nifty new capability.
Be aware that the Onyx tends to show smudges and minor scratches, but if that's the color you want, don't let it scare you away, it's not bad. I do keep mine in a case when not in use, though."

For this Nintendo DS they have free wi-fi unlike Xbox with thier Xbox LIVE which you got to pay $80 for a year subscription. I own a Nintendo DS (ONYX) and Im loving it forever. The DS Lite has many applications including free pictochat, free wireless game demo downloads, and can also play GBA games. I recommend this product deeply. "A handheld gaming system that packs more power than the Nintendo 64, the DS is another innovative system from a gaming legend. The DS Lite as compared to the DS has a few advantages and disadvantages over it's predecessor:
Pros: Very Compact. BRIGHT screens with vivid color. Smoother buttons than previous model, better stylus. More attractive and modern design. Full 3D capabilities combined with the touch screen can allow for some pretty innovative games. Wi-Fi connectivity has many potential uses (connect with Wii?). Plays GBA Games (though not previous Game Boy titles - No Gargoyle's Quest on DS). Games are not much larger than an SD card. No Disc-based media to scratch- or loading times.
Cons: Shows fingerprints BAD. They almost seem to glow off the glassy finish of the system. Button layout is almost cumbersome for larger hands (or at least they are for me). I had one stuck pixel in the top screen (stuck green). GBA cartridges stick out of the system when playing - won't bother most but really bothers me.
The system rocks. Get a good carrying case, and a lens cleaning cloth to clean the fingerprints off your system. It comes with an extra stylus just in case you lose yours!"
