"We have several other room A/C units, none compare to this unit. When I first installed it in a second-floor bedroom, I went outside to make sure it was secure. I couldn't hear anything from ~12 feet away, so I went in to turn it back on, and it was already running. You can hear the compressor kick in on our other 5K unit from the other side of the neighbor's yard! This is a full-featured unit, and uses relatively little electricity. I noticed no significant increase in our bill, even with 90+ degree days, and our house is very old with no insulation, so the upstairs is an oven on any sunny day above 60 degrees. I will buy at least one more of these units this year, and do often recommend them to friends. Not sure who makes them, but they're a quality unit for sure."

"We have 3 of these. It has very good features and works well. It's a little loud so that when it can wake you when it turns on or off when in economode. That was something we got used to after the first couple of nights."

"Love the A/C unit for it's low profile and energy savings features, including on/off timer capability. I set it to go off several hours after I have fallen asleep and keep a fan the rest of the time. My problem is with the styrofoam packaging and box that completely falls apart after opening the unit. I usually keep the box for winter storage of the unit and it's impossible to do with the poorly designed packaging."

"Purchased this air conditioner for my mother and she loves it. Works great! She turns it on at night to cool her bedroom and is able to turn it off when she goes to bed. The bedroom stays cool the whole night. She lives in a trailer and it has been a life saver for her this summer. Great price, easy installation, easy on the electric bill too! Thanks for a great product!"

"Right now I use the A/C mostly on the fan setting as we have not had any hot weather yet AND it keeps my bedroom comfortable so I get a good night's sleep. The controls on the unit and the remote are very easy to use. I am 83 yrs old and need my rest so I am happy with the A/C."

"The installation was very easy. It fit in a narrow window with ease. I live in South Florida, where the outside temperature stays in the 80's with high humidity at night. I run this unit in the bedroom at night and turn off the central air. I expect the unit to pay for itself this summer."

"I purchased the air conditioner because I'm renting a small house with a friend of mine. The house was built so long ago that it has no central air. I have terrible asthma so I needed something at least in my room. So far this window air conditioning unit has been quite a steal! It is quiet and install was very simple. Overall, a great buy!"

"I bought this for my living room and a 5000 btu unit for the dinning room of my small three bedroom house but will take the smaller unit back as this one cools like crazy. I have a 5000 btu in my bedroom in the back of the house and the two keep my whole house nice and cool! With ceiling fans on and an unused bedroom closed off I sometimes even have to turn the thermostat up. It's fairly quiet. Toss the whimpy side panel inserts - they're a joke - flimsy and they don't work in some windows. I'd recommend this unit to anyone!"

has anyone purchased this unit to be installed in an awning window?
we bought this unit and also a separate bracket but the bracket didn't seem to work.
we're thinking of using the L brackets that came with the unit but another issue we have is that the window opening is too big for the unit even with the accordion sides... there are gaps in all 4 sides.
any suggestions?

"I own two of these, one for the bedroom, and another to support a large air conditioner in cooling two rooms connected with an archway and I have to say I really like this unit. In the bedroom it refrigerates the air very quickly and then maintains the temperature and humidity all night without any issues. The other one really fills in the extra necessary BTUs that the main A/C needs to cool my 80+ year old second story home. Wouldn't trade it for the world."

"This is a great little unit, and is pretty quiet. We originally bought a Haier and it was so loud it kept me up all night, but this one has a steady low hum that is easily ignorable. I installed it myself (all 5', and 120lbs of me), using a little 12V cordless drill without any problems."

"I read that this was loud but didn't think it could possibly be this bad. I was wrong. Maybe it is because my bed is right under the AC but it is just so loud. I cannot watch TV at all without buying headphones so I can hear the TV (turned to the loudest volume).
It cools very good and my room is about 12' X 14' room.
I would recommend it to a friend but to be sure to tell them that it is very loud!"

"This unit was purchased to replace a 5,000BTU unit that was older and just not performing well in the dead of summer. My wife and I shopped around and found this one in our price range. There were many other availible in this price range, but as far as convenience to purchase this was the easiest. We have not regretted it at all. The only thing i will comment on is that when the compressor kicks in you can hear it. Its not to loud, but you can tell."

"We have this in our average size bedroom and it works just fine...installation was fairly simple...on hot days it can take a few minutes for it to cool down...the save energy feature is alright, it simply shuts completely off when it reaches the temperature, then restarts, which can be distracting at times because it is "background" noise that is noticeable when you're taking a nap or something...otherwise, a great buy!"
