"Having done research I was well prepared and feel that consumer report magazine should rank this unit higher than it has. I LOVE this unit. I have cats and this unit evens picks up cat hair. I have a friend with severe allegies, and deathly allergic to cats, well with this unit he comes/goes freely in my house and has no problems! Now that is amazing!! With someone who also suffers from chronic asthma! I love being able to wash the prefilter and the hepa filter, I do so every 3 wks. and am amazed with what it collects. While yes maybe $75 for a full replacement set of filters seems expensive it is annually, so I am impressed! I love the design and look. Very light weight and so thin and it is not an eye sore in the room! The noise level is so low, I wonder if it is on, well wow, I can run this unit and do 24/7 and I don't have to turn the volume up blaring on my TV or talk loud with a room full of people. I have noticed every time I use my microwave the lights go off on the unit letting me know it is working, yup I like the lights for dust and odor very handy. So is the timer if I needed it. Again I love this unit and am most pleased it surpasses all I have seen. I do not care for the electronic-precipitators (EP's) and their "bug zapping" noise they make, I have 4 of those and the ozone they produce is just not healthy at all, nor was the expense!! I much prefer the whole-house filters and I am not parting with my Kenmore EnviroSense!! I have friends that are happy they bought the unit to after they saw what my unit was capable of!! Superior product!"

"I did a lot of research on air purifiers before purchasing this Sears brand machine. It performs extremely well, removing odors and dust, and is very quiet until it detects odors or dust and automatically turns on high to remove them. We are very very happy with this purchase and plan to buy another one for our son's room."

"At 60, I was just diagnosed with asthma. What seems to set it off most is odors. With this machine I am breathing easiser. It is quiet, and seems to adjust quickly to changes in the air. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a better quality of air in their home. Also, my husband has alergies and this seems to help him as well. I use a special filter in our homes heating and air conditioning that is usually black when I replace it in 3 months. This time when I replaced it, it was gray--that really suprised me."

"The system is quite on low, appears to work well, but it has a strange odor emitting from the unit. The manuel says that this means the filter may need to be relpaced/cleaned, but the unit is only a couple of weeks old. Also the back of the unit, plasma section, appears to make a strange noise. We are taking it back, will try a new one and report on the unit in a few weeks. This might just be an isolated problem."

"I have purchased several air purifiers in the past, including Honeywell's best, but this unit leaves the compition in the dust, literally. I have severe allergies and asthma and after one day of running the unit on high I could tell a difference like night and day. The second day I set the unit to automatic and it has kept my entire downstairs of my house (1000 sq.ft.) extremely pleasant. My asthma has subsided and my allergies are nonexistant. The fact that the by- product of it's "Plasma Doctor" is oxygen also pleases my doctor as well.
I highly recommend this unit if you truly have breathing issues like allergies, asthma and COPD. In it's automatic mode it does sense subtle changes in air quality and ramps up and down as needed. I have recommended the unit to one of my son's and he has seen a dramatic difference as well.
Don't waste your money on other HEPA air cleaners when this unit does so much more.
To whoever invented this machine...Kudos and a sincer THANK YOU.

"These purifiers are the perfect multi zone solution. Very intelligent, quiet and powerful. On low they can barely be heard and on high they are still comfortably quiet. The Automatic setting can't be beat. They never fail to sense a problem and adjust scalably to provide a measured solution. These units circulate so much air that we no longer need to run our ceiling fans.
We live in an older home and the dust that it normally produces was unbearable, After adding 2 of these the maintenance cleaning around here has greatly reduced. We use one in the living room and one in the kitchen. What really tells the tale is when the Sun beams in through the windows. No longer any trace of airborne contaminants and the house just "feels" brighter and smells crisper. No more "stale air"...yuk!
We, 2 Adults, 2 Teens and an old Black Lab, do highly recommend these purifiers for a feel good experience that is based on more than just owning them. We feel better period....
And I never take the time to review anything...."

"I bought this product after reading the reviews. I purchased it with the idea that it was not going to work and I was going to return it. I have two large dogs with long hair so I needed something to help with the odor and dust they carry. When I first turned it on I did not think it was working...well not until I saw one of the dogs go passed it. It lite up like a christmas tree. This thing works...it really works."

"I gave this air cleaner to a good friend. He loves high tech items and loooooved the look and features of this one. He smokes and says the minute he lights a cigarette, the unit kicks into high gear. He says it is doing a good job cleaning the air. It looks great in his living room and he loves the remote.
The only negative I can find is the cost of replacement filters, but that's true of any good filter."

"With three cats and a dusty city apartment, I've found this product to be a lifewaver. I was having sinus/sneezing prolbems and those have been alleviated. Also, it is whisper-quiet, only ramping up after I change the litter box or if there's strong (say) cookng smells."

"We live in a rural area which means lots of dust, and we have three dogs running in and out of the house. My house smelled musty and dirty all the time ... until I purchased the EnviroSense air cleaners. I bought the larger unit for the living area and the smaller size for our bedroom. I've had them for over a month now and can't believe the difference they've made. They run 24/7, are quiet and very efficient. I love it when I hear the fans rev up and see those little sensor bars turn red, indicating they've "sniffed out" some odor that needs to be dealt with. Now my house always smells fresh and clean!"

"Well, I was pretty excited to unbox this unit and give it try. But everytime I turned it on it would turn itself off after a few seconds. I finally figured out it was the Plasma feature. If I turned the unit on and then turned Plasma off immediately, the unit would stay on. Other than that very annoying defect it seems to be working fine. I had it in my bedroom and the Sleep feature was nice as the higher fan cycles are too loud for sleeping. The sensors seem to work fine but time will tell. I'm back to Sears tomorrow to get a replacement for the broken Plasma feature."

"i loove thie filter for the simple fact that it actualy removes cigarette smoke from the air, i have two kids and we would always go outside to smoke for them so they dont breath the smoke but with this filter we can keep it on in our room and right when it sences the smoke it turns to high to filter the air and it removes the smoke!! i have tried alot of other filters and this is the only one than is up to my standards"

"This is one of 3 air cleaners in my house. 1 Holmes 1 Kenmore and the enviracare. I have the largest enviracare model in a 145 sq ft bedroom(unit rated for a room twice that size) and the dust level is higher than I would expect with 2 others in a a 1200 sq ft condo with no dogs, no smokers, or open windows, ever. Works better on higher speeds but too noisy on turbo to sleep and filter life is reduced to 6-8 mos if left on high and turbo. I think the hepa cartridge must be based on a time @ speed counter rather than the actual dirt level because after 6-8 mos on high and turbo the cartridge replacement light came on and the filter looked clean. Cleaner, in fact, than it looked when it ran for a year on auto. The regular hepa from kenmore is quieter( even on turbo) and does a better job and is rated for a larger room and filters are mucccchh cheaper,.. Okay if money is not a concern... If it is, keep shopping."

Just purchased my second one for the living room and same result, fresh, clean air. "This air purifier does indeed do all that the description says it does. I have only had it for three days, but it has been amazing. It is VERY quiet and seems to do the job. It is strange to see the dials working, and it does speed up when it senses "odors" automatically and then goes back to the low mode it runs in. Handy remote does everything possible. If you are not sure you want this bright blue in the picture, it is NOT that color. It is more of a steel metalic blue, so don't let the color in the ad put you off buying it.
The only thing I do not like is the fact that the power cord comes out of the side of it and cannot be moved. My outlet is on the left, and the cord is on the right, so alot of length is lost. Would have made more sense to put the cord in the middle of the back, or an option to move it to another side. I would definitely reccommend this to anyone wanting a quality air cleaner.
The box shows "included items" in it, but does not list a filter, so no need to buy one.
Replacement filter is a bit expensive."

"We live near a construction site and for several months have had several colds, lots of coughing, and very poor sleep. Within two weeks of purchasing this filter, we were sleeping better (this includes our 1 year old son, who is now sleeping well the entire night), our coughing is completely gone, and our colds have all disappeared too. We wake up every morning refreshed and we feel very good all day long. This purchase was very much well worth the investment. For the pundits who are making comments about the filter replacement costs, for the health benefits that we have received in the past few weeks, that extra replacement cost is well worth it."
