"This washer is unbelieveable, I usually don't get this excited over appliances but the washer and also the dryer has saved us so much money. Our water bill was really high because of all the wash I do. I have two teenagers and I am constantly do laundry, you know because you can't wear anything twice. Anyway since I got the front load washer my water bill has gone $60. When I do my clothes the spin cycle is so powerful that it seems like my clothes are 3/4 of the way dry. I know they are not but the spinning cycle great. I used to dry our jeans two times on the 70 minute cycle, now I press jeans and they dry in 42 minutes. I think the prices are reasonable because in the long run you are saving money and conserving water and electric. Like I said I really don't go on and on about applicances in the house but the Sears Washer and Dryer is something to write about. It was a great investment. Thanks!"

"I can't say enough good things about this washing machine. You can fit a LOT of clothes in there and it gets everything so clean. I love all the special settings like the soak cycle, stain treating cycle and sanitary cycles. The controls are easy to understand and use plus it's easy to put detergent in. It's very energy efficient and doesn't waste all the water top loading washers use. It's a little loud when you use the high speed spin cycle, but I just close the laundry room door and it's not bad. Overall, I love this washer and would highly recommend it."

Stay Away from All Kemore HE Series!, April 24, 2009
By jade123 from Millington, TN

Cons: Leaks, Maintenance, Non-Durable

"I received this model washer as an 3rd replacement for a leaky Kenmore HE2 3.6 cu. ft. Front Load Washer (47511).
It looks fancy with lots of "features", but don't let that fool you. It's core is just the same as the other HE series washers, and they are junk.

On every one of the 4 HE's I've received, the washer washing just fine, but when it goes into the "rinse cycles" water pours out the front of the doors!

I recieved this unit 3 days ago, I had a huge water leak on a test cycle using no clothes or detergents!

Stay away from all Kenmore HE series washers or you will be sorry. I have been without a working washer for 3 months because I did not do my homework.

And I am still fighting with OneSource trying to get this Washer replaced with a new unit ( not Kenmore).

Pay the extra money and buy something besides the HE series from Kenmore. I've now had 4 HE units delivered and repaired, and they all leak water out of the door during the rinse cycles....

Wonderful, March 13, 2009
By Corkyecg from Holton, MI

Pros: Appearance, Capacity, Digital Display, Durable, Easy to Use, Efficient, Features, Space efficient, Quiet, Time Savings, Utility Savings, Value for Money

"I just bought this dryer as a set with the HE2 front load washer and I cannot say enough good things about it! Very, very quiet...actually even that is an understatement! The buzzer goes off to let me know the load is done and I have usually forgotten that it was even on because of how quiet it is! Clothes come out dry the first time so you rarely if ever have to use the touch up cycle. The capacity is amazing. I washed ALL of my bedding off my queen size bed (fitted sheet, flat sheet, velour blanket & comforter) and there was still room!"

150 loads later, January 9, 2009
By NuclearBo from Hartman, AR

Pros: Capacity, Easy to Use, Quiet

"We wanted front load, sanitize cycle, quality, and a good price. We got it all. After the reviews, we asked to have the washer balanced with a load of towels in spin cycle. Since then the only loads that have any vibration are coats and comforters during the spin cycle. We have 3 kids and wash 4 to 5 loads a day. The washer is very quiet.
The stain cycle starts with cold water and heats the water over time. Wow stains do come out. The extra time for this process is well worth the wait.
The pedistal stand puts the door at the right height for easy loading. We used red pedistals with the white washer/dryer to accent with the room - a really neat idea.
Cloths smell great.
The HE2 dryer goes great with the washer.

No complaints here, January 8, 2009
By JedH from Colorado

Pros: Appearance, Capacity, Digital Display, Easy to Use, Efficient, Features, Value for Money
Cons: Noisy

"We purchased this washer 2 1/2 years ago and have had only 1 malfunction. The computer had some error that a service rep came and fixed. Make sure and buy the extended warranty for any new appliance you purchase! We bought the HE2t because we used cloth diapers for both our children. It takes roughly 3 hours to wash a set of diapers on the high temp function, but it is well worth the wait! They come out looking and smelling brand new! The washer is somewhat noisy during the final spin cycle, but it has warnings all over it that the clicking noise is normal. We elected to not replace our dryer and I still don't think it makes sense to purchase a matching $900 dryer. The HE2t spins the clothes so quickly that the clothes come out barely damp. We use our old dryer (used to take a good hour + to dry and now we get it done in half the time). We have our washer on a tile floor (not slab concrete) and have had no problems with it moving around!"

Worst purchase I ever made, December 15, 2008
By sherylg from Indiana

Pros: Appearance, Capacity
Cons: Maintenance, Noisy

"The only good thing about this machine is that it cleans the clothes. Beyond that, I have been very disappointed in it. It is so loud (it's on a pedestal) that we had to weigh down the pedestal drawers with gallon bottles of water, and it's still very loud. It stinks like mildew, and you are supposed to leave the door open to prevent this, but it doesn't help much. I run bleach through it like the manual says to do, and it smells good for about a week. I wash about 12 loads of laundry a week. Small items like socks and sponges get stuck in the door baffle, and even got stuck somehow in the drain mechanism inside the machine, which cost almost $300 to have removed. Thank goodness my husband watched the repair guy, because he has had to clear it out twice more in the last two months! Also, because you use so little detergent, there isn't much detergent smell to freshen the load, so loads of towels come out smelling like mildew. There is also a problem with the sudsing sensor. At least a few times a week, it says "SUDS" indicating too much soap, which is not true. Because of this, one load of laundry that should take 45 minutes, sometimes takes up to 2 1/2 hours! I have followed the directions on the high efficiency soap, and even tried using half of the recommended amount, but this still happens. This is the worst appliance I have ever bought. If I hadn't spent so much money on it, I would have replaced it by now."

Only so so, October 26, 2008
By Gizmotto

Pros: Appearance, Capacity, Easy to Use
Cons: Noisy

"This is our first front loader. Our overall experience so far has been a bit worse than I had hoped.
Pros --
* No doubt uses less water than our old top loader
* Cleans clothes very well.
* Spin cycle leaves clothes incredibly dry. Your dryer won't get much of a workout.
Cons --
* Vibration. Its just OK where I have it installed; a basement concreate slab. I wouldn't recommend anyone purchase this IF its going on a wood structure. Everyone in the house will know when its running.
* Long wash cycles. Noticably longer than the old top loader. I must admit my patience with this is sometimes a bit thin.
* With a single large item, like a sheet for instance, the washer takes even longer to reach the point where it will spin fast. I assume this washer has some kind of balance detection feature. It tumbles this large lump of a load at a very low speed until enough water comes out, then it accelerates.

"I've had this washer since Nov. 2007 and I'm very happy with it. I have read many complaints about people saying that their clothes and the washing machine has a very bad odor and smells realy bad. I do not have that problem. But, I think I know what the problem is. After washing the clothes, I always wipe dry the inside of the door, the bottom of the door seal (I pull the rubber seal open and wipe the water) and I ALWAYS leave the door open, so the inside can dry. I also remove the draw and empy the water and leave it out over night to dry. This gives the washer time to air dry so there is never any odor."

need a real washer, May 4, 2008
By surprisinglydissapointed from syosset, new york

"couldn't wait to use a king-sized washer to handle a large family's loads. Positives -- love the pedestal, the wash is clean when machine works. Negatives -- told not to overfill machine (it is king-sized), expected a reliable appliance to make wash an easier chore. found out the hard way that the washer hose was crushed when delivered. while my clothes did not get washed that first load, my walls and floor did. took almost ONE MONTH for them to replace it. next, found out my washer talks and dances. squeaks like an old machine and vibrates across the floor each load. have had springs and shocks changed. no squeaking anymore but some vibration requires pushing machine back into place every few loads (machine is 200 lbs). better but not perfect. this week, it stops working half-way through load; told its an electrical problem, we'll see. surprisingly, Sears maintains that this machine is NOT a lemon. i have only done about 35 loads since 12/30/07. as a long-time customer, i have always been satisfied with their service. not this time."

Happy Customer!, May 4, 2008
By OHgirlinGA from Marietta, GA

"I have had my HE2t for 3 mos. and am REALLY happy with it. I replaced a top loader that danced all over my upstairs laundry room through each spin cycle. This one still vibrates, but I no longer hear my china clinking downstairs, and it is a few seconds while it is getting going, or slowing down, instead of the whole cycle. I am very happy with that!
My clothes are clean, and I love the saving on detergant and water. I do only 4-5 loads per week -- all large loads.
Our laundry room floor is VERY uneven, so my husband built a level platform for the water, which has helped with the vibration and the ease of leveling the machine.
We have ours stacked (We got the matching dryer), which is a bit of pain for service. I had to have a service call last week, but Sears came out next day!!! Turns our it was underwires from a bra. From now on my bras are handwash! But, the extra space is worth it.
All in all we are totally thrilled with our purchase. And, we did get the 5 yr service plan. I think it is the way to go with these new machines!

Clothes do not get clean, spin cycle great, April 14, 2008
By Pebel from Ohio

"the rave about front load washers, efficiency, less drying time, less water. we replaced our top loader with the kenmore HE 47561 front load washer. It may be efficient on water, but the clothes do not get clean, my whites are dingy, i do use bleach, and even minor stains do not lift out. there is an unclean smell as well. the wash cycles are extremely long, 2-3 hours. with that in mind just how efficient can that be even if drying time is less. The high spin cycle is great on this machine though. After continuous aggravation for an exchange or refund, we chose a different washer. A Top loader with agitation have done the job wonderfully so back to what works. Not as stylish as the front loaders and they do take more water. But wash time is far less. Most important to me, CLEAN Clothes !
i do not recommend this washer

Not happy in PA, April 11, 2008
By JeannieB from Harrisburg, PA

"Our washer stopped working after 5 months. After many long calls, I agree with others the 'left hand does not know what the right hand is doing', a repairman came to the house (with no parts). After several weeks we learned the parts are on back order with no est. time of delivery!
Recommend you keep detailed notes. Who you spoke to, time, date, refer. number, etc. Remember this may go on for months-take your own notes. Many things do not get entered into the system. Good Luck!

8-Month Report - Good for me, April 11, 2008
By PleasedSoFar from New Jersey

"PROS
Impressive washer. Has numerous cycle choices, cleans very well, shows approximate cycle times. Teamed with Sears Ultra Plus detergent, we have been delighted with the washing results.
NEUTRAL
Cycle times longer than the top-loader this replaced, but we have become acclimated to that.
CON
One continuing area of dissatisfaction: on the monthly clean cycle and on hand wash cycle (but not on any other cycle settings) we had slight leakage of water onto the laundry room floor. Warranty replacement of the rubber seal a month ago has, so far, fixed the leak during the monthly cleaning cycle, but the washer still dribbled a bit of water on a hand wash cycle load. The amount dribbled is manageable, but a new washer should not have this problem: this is the sole reason I did not give the machine a 5.

very dissatisfied, February 12, 2008
By lexcap1003 from Lexington SC

"The washer is pretty good, but when something goes wrong with it, get ready for a round of phone calls with no results!! I have been without my washer for Three weeks now, one of the parts is on back order and no estimated delivery date for it to be in. the washer is only five months old. The right hand does not know what the left is doing, The only answer you get is please hold for someone else that can help you, and you stay on hold and on hold and on hold and finally you get disconnected and have to start all over again. It is a never ending cycle."

if you can wait, February 10, 2008
By shilohilmom from Illinois

"We were happy with the performance of this washer but not the length of cycles as others have said too. You grow old waiting for the wash to finish and with too young boys and tons of laundry this just does not work. The thing that aggravates me is the sales people try to sell you on the decreased drying times but don't tell you anything about the increased wash times which are three times as long. The machine is not plugged in at the showroom in Sears so you can't see this before you by it. Only the top of the line machines are plugged in showing you comparable wash times of your old top loader. We have decided to return it and purchase the comparable Whirlpool Duet 9200 (Whirlpool 9400 is top rated in CR) instead which has much better cycles times (can review them online at Whirlpool's site) and differs from the 9400 only in not having a very high spin speed only a high spin speed. Sears is working with us and is not even charging us a restocking fee since the economy is so slow and times are tough. In fact they have bent over backward for us. Way to go Sears! They even gave us an additional 10% off the sale price on this model"

Not happy with this machine, February 2, 2008
By idolotsoflaundry

"I have had this washing machine 1 month and waited until now to write my review of it. It took me awhile to get used this machine because I had always had a top loader and decided on this model to save water and energy. Overall, I would not recommend this model for two reasons 1) there are alot of options I will never use. A normal cycle takes and hour. The other options take longer i.e. 2 hours or more. When I do multiple loads a day I don't have time for a load of laundry that will take more then and hour 2) The machine has a option for 30 min. express wash, that does not work most of the time, because the machine "thinks" it has either too little or too much laundry for this setting, so it stops and stalls. Which makes it useless. So, if I had known that I would only use one of the cylces on this machine I would have bought a less expensive model with fewer options. I give this machine three stars for getting the laundry very clean."

Great first few months, January 31, 2008
By tac2353 from Sebago, ME

"I got this washer in July 2007. At first it worked great. I was seeing clean clothes, a lot less lint in the dryer filter, and the drying time was reduced. I was pleased it was fairly quiet too.
Then I noticed as much lint in filter as the old top loader GE I had (only 5 years then it too died!) Then it was making noise, squeaking on spin and just noisey!
Now just 6 months later I get an F-21 code flashing. Called Sears, someone can come out on Monday, 5 days from now.
I did get the clothes out of the machine with help from Sears lady on the phone. But, had to use one of my kids snowsleds to catch all the water as it hadn't spun out and drained. What a mess!
So now I am waiting, and back to using the inlaws machine!

Very Disappointed, January 31, 2008
By JaimeH from Auburn, AL

"I have had this washer 7 months. I would definitely not recommend it to anyone. I don't have problems when washing clothes in it, but when I wash towels, they never get clean. They always have an odor after they have been washed and dryed. I have tried numerous detergents, wash them in hot water, and for long cycles and they never get clean. This machine is definitely not worth the amount I spent on it. Next time, I will get a plain top-load washer and save $500."
