"We have two young cats and two teenagers. This vacuum has been amazing for cleaning up after the pets, children, and their friends. It's very easy to use and the Inteli-clean system works to perfection. We have carpeted rooms and bare hardwood floors. The features that allow the different settings for carpet and bare floors, fits our usage to a tee. My wife says vacuuming is actually enjoyable now. We love it!"

"I just used this vacuum for the first time, and boy, am I shocked! I can't believe how much durt, dust, and debris was pulled out of my carpets. I figured I would find some dirt, but was shocked at the large amount. I had used a Kenmore canister vac for the last 10+ years (and never had a problem with it - Kenmore's last!) but decided it was time to upgrade. I'm so glad I did! It's worth every cent. Its' easy to assemble and use. I thouroughly believe in the Intelliclean System - it really lets you know where ths dirt is. My carpets are soft and fluffy and look brand new. I highly recommend this unit!! And if you have braided rugs, be prepared to spend a LONG time on them. My large rectangle rug in the kitchen was so much dirtier than I ever imagined. I put off upgrading for months because I thought the vacuum I had was fine, but I was so wrong. Get this vacuum - you won't be disappointed!!!"

Just wanted to give my 2 cents on this vacuum. This is my 4th vacuum cleaner in 5 years. Yes, 5 years!! I burned a Dirt Devil, Hoover and a Bissell. After doing my research on Consumer Reports and comparing it to the Dyson, this got great ratings on CR. I bought it, have used it for over 1 week, and I am amazed at how clean it leaves my carpet and how dirty the filter comes out!! I love it!! I had my carpets professionally cleaned 3 months ago, and living in the dusty desert of Phoenix suburb, we get lots of dust. I am very pleased with this vacuum and I highly recommend it."

"Had this Vacuum for about a little over a year. I have two Labrador Retrievers. I bought it based on that it was supposed to be great for Pet Hair. Although it did better then the Vacuum we had before. I am very dissapointed that it is no longer working. I took it for repair and the cost for the part, a new motor, was $120.00 plus labor....seriously that is almost what we paid for the whole darn thing. Of course it is out of warranty....just barely. We thought we spent a lot on a cleaner this time....we "invested" in a more expensive cleaner then this one and it comes with a 7 year warrenty on their motor...You get what you pay for."

"This vacuum is so awesome, I want to marry it. It is lightweight and easy to manuever. The intelli-clean system is the best thing since sliced bread. It senses the amount of particles being sucked into the filter, and lets you know when the area is clean. The bagless is great, and very easy to empty. I like the switch that helps clean the filter, and you can always take the filter out and clean. It is worth every penny. Oh, I also love the purple!!"

"I thought it was indulgent to buy such a high-end vacuum, but I'm glad I did. I bought it on a friend's recommendation, and I'll recommend it to others.
It cleaned the hardwood floors beautifully - no second pass with a swiffer. The carpets look great. The mini attachment pulled so much dust out of the sofa that it's two shades darker now. Very easy to use on the stairs.
The air feels cleaner, and my house looks a hundred times better. Well worth it."

"I purchased this vacuum 1 week ago...with a bit of hesitancy after reading all the reviews. We have carpet, hardwoods,3 children, 2 labs and a cat. We couldnt be happier with this vacuum. I love the fact that you can switch from carpet to hardwoods on the handle...no hassle at all. People complained about the weight...Not to much of a problem. It's a bit heavy to lift but once it's turned on it's lighter then my previous Bissell and is not difficult to push. My husband had back surgery 3 weeks ago and he has no problem with it either. I particularly like the fact that I can leave the vacuum at the base of the stairs and make it all the way to the top without lugging the entire thing up. The hose is long and the suction is great. Keep in mind, it's only been a week. Should my opinion change, I will repost the problems. I did purchase the additional warrenty. We vacuum EVERY day and it was worth it to me to have it."

"I know that other reviewers mostly liked this vacumn, (maybe I got a lemon?) but,I bought this vacumn based on consumer reviews and because I have a very hairy golden retriever. While the suctions seems ok, it really isn't any better than my old Dirt Devil, and it seems to be really cheaply made. The plastic attachments will bend if you apply any type of pressure on them, and also there is a small piece of plastic that broke right off one of the attchment pieces. The Handi Mate Jr no longer rotates, and the dirt sensor doesn't work anymore. I just bought this vacumn in December of '08 and here it is only May '09. I would love to be rid of it, but am told by Sears that it can only go out for repair. Seriously, don't waste your money on this flimsy made vacumn. It isn't worth it."

"This vacuum is great. Besides being able to "see" the dirt my other vacuum missed, I've noticed that it's also bringing back the carpets "piling" if that's the correct terminology. In other words, I can see my footprint in the carpet now and that wasn't happening with my other vacuum. My previous vacuum was the blue Kenmore Progressive with a bag. This new bagless Progressive vacuum has much more suction."

"Very good suction power, which is what I cared most about. I have a couple cats, and this thing always picks up a ton of hair in their favorite lounging spots after just a few days.
The dirt sensor feature is cool, and seemed to work excellent at first, but after just a few weeks, it usually just stays on the max setting, like my carpet is always dirty no matter how much I vacuum. This may be because my carpet was extremely dirty at first, and I've just got clean the thing out really well, but it's kind of annoying.
Aside from the above, no other complaints; very easy to use, nice long cord, & easy cleanup (make sure to take out the filter and bang it, gently but very firmly on its end against a hard surface out side in order to really clean it well).
It's not super light, but I wouldn't call it very heavy either - although I'm a 28yr old guy, so the story may be a bit different for someone much older.
Hand tools are very nice too."

"I have two dogs who love to bring in "treasures" from the outdoors which might include gumballs, leaves, or even small sticks. This vacuum cleaner did not hesitate in picking up everything in its path on both carpet and hardwood floors. The amount of pet hair it sucked up was amazing. Only one of my dogs sheds, but there was enough hair in the canister to make a stuffed animal by the time I was through cleaning. The canister is also very easy to "dump" into the garbage. I would highly recommend this vacuum to anyone with pets or even those without who just want extra clean floors and carpet."

Very Good Suction Poor Power on Switch,February 19, 2009

"I bought this Cleaner Last week. As soon as I assemble and When I pressed the power on button, the machine did not turn on. I was trying after few minutes and keep on trying the power on button, it started to work. The suction was very good. I was able to clean all the room and it did an excellent job. But After couple of days when I again used it, I was able to clean one room and it went off all of a sudden. Since after I coule not power this cleaner on."

"This vacuum cleaned my carpets extremely well using the inteliclean system which detects the amount of dirt being picked up and tells you when an area is clean. My carpets looked great after each use. It has not lost any power and I use at least once a week for over a year. The only negative is that the bare floor atachment falls off easily since it uses a small twist and lock in place notch rather than friction to connect the wand to the hose. The wand has fallen off so many times now that it has worn the notch off and I need to find a repacement wand. Overall, I would recommend for mostly carpet use but if you need to vacuum mostly on bare floors look into buying a canister vacuum with a metal wand for durability."

"We had a Dyson before the Kenmore and after running the Dyson over the carpet several times, then running the Kenmore, the Kenmore found a significant amount of dirt (and pet hair) that the Dyson missed. Highly recommended for cleaning thick carpeting.
The only drawback is the weight of the machine. It's not light and when the IntelliClean kicks in full-bore, it can take some effort to move the vacuum around. Still, if you clean somewhat regularly, the IntelliClean shouldn't activate the uber-clean mode and it's fine at that point. Hauling the unit up and down stairs to clean the upper floor and the stairwell is a bit of a chore, but the end results more than justify the effort.
Overall, we're very VERY happy we bought this guy and would highly recommend it to anyone."

"I recently bought this vacuum after owning a kenmore cannister vacuum. We have 2 kids and 2 dogs and it does pick up a lot of hair. However, the vacuum is so heavy that I can't lift it up our stairs. It is also very hard to push. There is virtually no suction on the sides so you have to take out the hose to do baseboards or along furniture. This is the first bagless I've ever owned and I will never buy another one. I wind up filthy every time I empty the cannister and clean the filter and it doesn't hold a lot of dirt so I usually have to empty it twice every time I vacuum. In general, I wish it would break so I could buy a different vacuum because I really regret buying this one!"

I have 3 large dogs and 3 cats, this works very well on pet hair and dander. I made the mistake of buying a cheap vacuum cleaner from a discount store and was very disapointed. "Takes the worry out of wondering if you have vacuumed an area already. Simply run the vac over the area and if it is clean, you get the "Green Light". I love this vacuum. I had a Rainbow vacuum before and I just got tired of the routine of dealing with water and dumping and where to dump the funky stuff. Don't get me wrong, it is a great vacuum with super suction, but the Kenmore Progressive Bagless Upright with Inteli-Clean System HAS SUCTION! It is everything anyone would want in a vacuum. Yes, you have to dump the dirt, which is no big deal and tap the filter. But I kinda like doing that because it shows me how well it works everytime."

"I am very impressed with this vacuum. I was a skeptic, but seeing is believing. I had to empty the bagless container twice on the first vacuum of about 750 square ft. I was flabbergasted that that much dog fur and dust was not being picked up by my old vacuum. The only thing that I do not like is how clogged the filter gets. It gets caked with the fine dust particles and is messy to clean up."

"I just bought this vacuum yesterday, I got it on sale ( for only $280.00) It is awesome. I was very please with this vacuum. I have had more expensive vacuum, you know the ones the " never loose suction" and they have not worked out, this one not only got up all of the pet hair but kept going after wards. If you are a pet owner then I HIGHLY recommend this product. I have 14 cats and 6 dogs, so I put this vacuum to the test and it came out perfect!!"
