brutal! Brutal! BRUTAL!!!!, October 3, 2009
By homediyer22 from Canada

"These compressors may seem very appealing to the average consumer due to their low low price tag compared to belt driven oil based compressors...
Don't be fooled by this, the compressor rings and the compression chamber wear out at a ridiculously fast rate and after a few months my 30 gal 5 hp wouldn't get above 40 PSI.
Trying to find replacement parts for a compressor older than a couple years? GOOD LUCK!!!
I've had to tear apart the compression chamber and expand the piston ring about every 10 uses now as the replacement parts are simply unavailable.
When it is working good its alright, VERY Noisy even in a garage with closed doors, and on top of that the regulators auto stop at 130 but dont start recharging until 90 which can leave you high and dry as mine takes atleast 40 minutes to fill from empty!!!
Honestly Do not buy an oilless compressor!!! It will end up in your garage sale in a couple years with a sticker saying-"doesn't get above 50 PSI-$20"
Save up and buy a belt driven oilled compressor!!
Just for the record i have 2 of these pieces of garbage-both are craftsman pro grade 1 20Gal and one heavy duty 30 Gal...
I will never purchase an oilless compressor again!!!

Compressor Has Short Life, May 14, 2009
By Indio from Waywhoas, Texas

"The compressor wouldn't shut off in auto mode, and the tank would bleed off. The unit is 4 years old. The manual said replace the regulator. I did, but it didn't solve the problem. The unit will run without shutting off and can't get about 80 psi, and still bleeds off. After several hours of trying to get it working, I'm in give up. I will replace the compressor entirely, but not with another one like this."

Great Compressor for the money, May 2, 2009
By Lijian from Kansas City, KS

"I like this air compressor. At first, I had a portable air compressor about 1 gallon and talk about airing up your tires--it was dreadful.

I bought a 33 gallon Craftsman air compressor and with it going all the way up to 150 psi and the output turned up as high as it could I don't have to worry about waiting for air to build up before airing again and it's much quieter than my portable Campbell Hausfeld air compressor too. Wish I could've saved that $100 and put it on this one--it would have paid for itself already!

Would definitely recommend to a friend!!!

33 gallon compressor, April 18, 2009
By 1BRICK from NJ

"Excellent value for the money. It replaced a small 26 gallon sears compressor that is 30 years old and still working. It is quiet I feel it takes too long to fill from empty and although it is a 150lb psi unit it only puts out 139at the regulator. Tank pressure is 150psi. I have the regulator cranked all the way up. I just got mine wednsday so i gave #4 rating for reliability because i have had it only 2 days. Good unit for the home "shade tree mechanic" who does not use it every day. Never forget you get what you pay for."

Sweet Deal!!!, February 6, 2009
By Anonymous from Gardner,KS

"I have had this for about a couple of days now and this thing rocks. Much quiter than I expected and more than big enough to handle my midsize car. The cheap 39.99 air gun that I got free with it was horrible but it was free with this compressor. It would not break loose the crank pulley bolt loose on a Chevy Aveo. I had a timing belt to replace and was stuck. It's only a 70ft/lbs tensioned bolt and this air gun is rated to 340ft/lbs?!?I had to go buy the 129.99 Craftsman air gun and it does the job well!"

Beats the heck out of Kobalt, December 8, 2008

"I replaced a similar sized and powered Kobalt that stopped working properly after 18 months. The Craftsman is much quieter and pressures up more quickly."

33 Gal. Air Compressor, November 15, 2008
By NickB from Gaithersburg, MD

"I have only used this air compressor with my nail gun to shoot 2" nails into red oak, and with my 1/2" crown staple gun to shoot staples into plywood. The air compressor is pretty quiet for an air compressor. I would recommend this compressor to someone that wants a good middle grade compressor."

Good Job!!!!!, November 9, 2008
By Jeff1234 from MIssouri

"I must say, when I started out to find a compressor that would hold up for an entire auto paint job, this baby did the trick. I was worried that the HP was too low to spray the thick primer and keep up, but it never let me down. I have since used it for power tool and heavy jobs and have never had a problem. Works great. Make sure you follow the break in procedure for trouble free service. Excellent product, dont miss out on this one!!! I painted my 80 Camaro, thats all the DA sanding and grinding on the body, cutting, spray primer (many coats), spray sealer, spray paint, mid-coat metal flake, and lots of clear. It kept up with me even when I was laying it down heavy for a long time."

slow to get to 150 psi, October 14, 2008
By Divemaster from Fort Worth, TX

"I just bought this compressor, came home and followed the break in cycle and then pumped it up to max capacity. Whew - it shure took a long time compared to my old 25 gallon vertical craftsman. Difference is this compressor is only 1.6 HP and the old vertical design from 1996 is 5.5 HP!
it is very quiet, but in some garage tests using an impact and cut off wheel, I am idssapointed that a 33 gallon compressor cany hold up longer. and the little 1.6 HP motor is a joke. I'll be returing it tonight.

Good stuff!, September 29, 2008
By Hood from Atlanta, ga

"I got this as a gift to replace my smaller compressor. This compressor is great . it's quiet, fast, and runs my airtools. It does tend to build up water in the tank every so often, but that's my only complaint. Great for the $$."

good performance, September 21, 2008
By bnmn from Marion county, Florida

"This is a great general purpose compressor for home use. It keeps up with my tools. Recovery is excellent. The noise level is reasonable. It is more quiet than my old (still workimg) Sears 1 hp compressor that it replaced. I was considering 26 gallon compressor, but I am glad that I decided to get the larger 33 gallon unit"

This is a piece of JUNK, June 23, 2008
By W5TAP from Bryan, TX

"I bought this compresser and only use is a few times a month with a small nail gun in my woodworking shop. With in the first year the regulator come appart. Took it back to Sears and tried to get them to make good on it and was told my warranty had expired a few days before hand. They wanted over $40.00 for a new one. Now just over 2 years old the pressure control switch is leaking so bad that it wont build over 20 psi? Now I will have to replace that out of my pocket? This compresser has less than 50 hours of use on it and has been nothing but trouble. Also it is way to loud."

Quiet and Good Compressor, June 21, 2008
By Alondra007 from Lake Mary, Fl

"This is the First large compressor i bought, it is quiet and run very smooth. Using the impact wrench it brakes the lug nuts on the wheel of my truck and the ratchet wrench works great with this compressor. i don't have any issues with volume or cutting out. Overall it works very good for a garage shop."

light duty only, June 4, 2008
By Hadacoupleofdeese

"this will be my third purchase of this model. we air up tubes for swimming with ours, no major work but it does get a workout when we air up a dozen truck tubes at a time. all my compressors have failed the same way. a press-fit line comes loose on the side of the motor, it leaks air, and then something knocks a hole in the side of the motor. fixing the leak does not seem to prevent the motor failure it, it simply tells you when the motor is going to blow. we did get a lot of use out of them it was just interesting to me that they have all lasted approx 1y and 5mo, long enough to be out of warranty, and they fail with the same problem, two of my friends had very similar experiences. but hey, they are cheap and reliable for that first year. i'm giving it one more chance and then in one year and a couple of months when this one fails identically I'm moving my business elsewhere."
