compressor,September 7, 2009
By stueyfrom Central Oh
"I expected more from an item with the craftman name on it. I have run the unit maybe 10 hours, and owned it a little over a year. It just started to slow down and then quit. I was careful to follow the directions for usage and maintenence. I was disapointed that no allowance was given me and the unit was not covered under the short 1 year Mfr Warranty. I love my Sears hand tools but I shall likely look for a different Compressor with a substantial Warranty in the future. Powermate units are all 5yr Coverages. Bad experience with otherwise wonderful store."

Great Value,August 28, 2009
By YZNHYMRfrom Estero, Florida
"My brother has had one of these for 4 years and it works so well that I bought one for myself. It is very light and portable. I have a 6 gallon pancake by Sears in the garage, but take this one with me all the time. It holds more air than smaller 2 gallon compressors so less cycle time. I recommend it highly."

Second and Last Sears Compressor,July 31, 2009
By Anonymousfrom St. Louis, Mo
"If i could rate this lower than 1 star i would
I bought a 1HP/2GAL compressor from Sears 'as-is' table for occasional light use. It looked in great condition, it was labeled parts missing - but since i only needed a compressor for blowing dust off equipment maybe once or twice a month I figured what could go wrong? $70 and 3 months later the compressor quit working. It runs fine, it simply won’t build up over 20lbs pressure in the tank. Since it was AS-IS I figured, no big deal, that may have been why it was 'as-is'. But since i “needed” to have a compressor i went out and purchased another one from Sears, this time I figured bigger and new would be the best bet, wrong again, the new compressor failed in the exact same way, this time it was 5-6 months instead of 3 – neither of these compressors have more than 2-3 hours total use - maybe that combined. This is totally unacceptable, especially for a brand name such as Sears. I may still shop there, but think the most complex/expensive items I’ll be purchasing will be air filters for my lawn mower."

great compressor,July 22, 2009
By golfaholicfrom Central Florida
"After purchasing a cheaper model that would not blow up a tire in under 2 days, I decided to purchase this one. I was really glad that I did. It works great. Used it to spray paint some furniture and was done in no time."

The little compressor that could........,June 8, 2009
By Gallatin721from Manhattan NY
"I bought this compressor 01/06, it lacks horse power and volume air capacity, but for $99.99 what do you want? I change the oil regularly and make sure the fittings are tight , as well as remove water from the tank after use. It handles all of my nail guns without a real major problem, the supplied hose is a piece of garbage. Go out and get a 3/8 in. hose and you'll do fine, this is not for contractor usage, it just won't make it. I have put it through changes over the period of time, again I say change your oil regularly like you do your engine in your car. I change it when I can no longer see my finger prints through the oil, it is time to dump it. Keep the motor good and it will do its job for you, for the home diyer..."

great little compressor,May 27, 2009
By MissScarlettfrom Medina, Ohio
"I have had this conmpressor for about 4 years. I traded a heavier one with my son for this one and he had used it for a year. I totally love this compressor. I take it with me to do repairs on furnitue and use it for reupholstering when I have someone working for me and need to run two compressors. And the funny thing is, my husband has stolen it from me to take with him when he does repairs on things.I am going to try to buy another one today for my dad so hopefully the parts in it are still the same quality as when the one I have was made. Sometimes I suppose it is a good idea to buy that extended warranty. Never know when you might need it."

Disappointed,May 26, 2009
By Dave58from Yardley, PA
"Bought this same unit in the 1.5HP model about 18 months ago for use in my garage (inflating tires, air hose off mower, etc). Worked well for the first year although not used all that often. Went to use it the other day and the thing was froze up solid. Went to price a new motor and they don't even carry them anymore. Now I have to buy another compressor. I guess you only get a year for the $100 you spend! I have another Sears compressor that is 15 years old and still running great, but weighs so much it isn't portable. Maybe the quality has dropped? Not what I expected from a Craftsman!"

"I was given this compressor by a friend who said the tank would not pressurize. He didnt know anything about it,so he gave it to me to tinker with, instead of throwing it away.I found out that the head gaskets were blown, and replaced them at 10.00 total. It has worked good,no problem.Nice little compressor."

"I have used it only a day, but it seems good. Running a air nailer, 2" brads. Much better than the light duty one I got at a discount store. I think it's worth the price. Pleased so far."

Plastic breather needs redesigned,March 29, 2009
By Zosomlfrom Ohio
"This compressor, and other Craftsman oil-lubed portables, has a cheap plastic breather that is not enclosed in any way. Broke first one when hose became entangled and snapped right off. Ordered replacement which was not exspensive, but the shipping was high. Broke new breather when slightly bumped, then compressor froze up. Assume it needs new rings but not willing to shell out the cash for such a cheap compressor. Very disapointed in this Craftsman product. Also, compressor was very hard to start in cold weather."

Little engine that could.,March 28, 2009
By wolrah44from Plano, Tx.
"I've had it for two years and built three large fences with it. It ran my framing, finish and brad nailer plus misc. inflating & cleanup. It'll only put in six framing nails at a time but pumps up before the next board. Finally froze up last week. Bought another one. I really abused it and it put in its time! You can't go wrong for 99 bucks."

wish it kept working,March 20, 2009
By jm0032from Minnesota
"Got it about 15 months ago (12 mo warranty), and used it several times for little jobs, tires, drying parts, etc, and never abused it. NOTE: This is NOT the compressor to use with an impact gun, it will never keep up. Worked great until the motor seized a few weeks ago. I had expected a lot better from craftsman. Save your money and get a bigger one, if not get the warranty....you'll probably need it."

good product for the price,March 2, 2009
By kcallopfrom Santa Ana, Ca
"Had this compressor for a couple of years. Use it to clean up shop and as a nailer for my woodworking projects. Does a fine job.
It has broken down and believe it is a valve/ring problem as air never gets to the tank. Ordered new parts, less than $30, but the shipping is 15.00 with no savings to pick up at store
Hopefully this will solve the problem."

Update from June 08,February 24, 2009
By rmoss54afrom Meridian, MS
"I haven't changed my mind. This is a great little compressor. I have shot hundreds of nails since last year and this compressor has NEVER given me a problem. I use it with my framing nailer, palm nailer and brad nailer. It also works pretty good for cleaning the saw dust from my table saw and power miter. Just make sure to change the oil when reccommended
If you are a contractor with 1000's of nails to shoot, don't be so cheap and buy the size compressor you need for your job.
BUT, IF YOU ARE A HOME OWNER WITH A NEED FOR A COMPACT COMPRESSOR, HERE IS ONE TO BUY."

Keep it,February 21, 2009
By RyanBrfrom PA
"I paid $99 on sale & compressor does look well built. Decided to buy this model since it was half the price of a comparably sized Makita or Dewalt. I filled the unit with oil & the motor seized within 1 minute after initial startup. I think I'll stick to just Craftsman hand tools from now on."

Make Sure You Open Right Away,January 19, 2009
By likescraftsmanstuff
"I never got the chance to try this out. I missed the warranty because I lost my receipt. I thought this would be like any other Craftsman prouct that I had purchased, but I was wrong. When I opened the box, everything looked great, the setup was reletively easy, I followed each step, but when I finaly had everything ready, nothing happened. It doesn't turn on. Since the cost of repairing is close to replacing it, I'm out $100. This was a huge disappointment. I only have Sears products in my house, and all of my tools are Craftsman. I will now have to seriously look at other manufacturers to ensure that I get a better product. I just don't lnow what other company to try...."

Amazingly Durable,January 17, 2009
By SnowMakerfrom Arkansas
"I just finished using this air compressor, now 3 years old, to power my snowmaking machine. This uses a lot of air, and the compressor ran non-stop for 41 hours. Can't say if they are all this resilliant, but mine certainly is. Color me impressed."
